Every Watch Worn in Stranger Things - Intro
Stranger Things has a documented habit of putting watches on its kids three, four, sometimes eight years before Casio actually made them. Some of that comes from simple continuity slips. Some of it, especially by the final season, comes from something stranger: Casio's own modern "Vintage Collection," current-production watches built to look exactly like the 1980s originals they're standing in for. Either way, the show has spent five seasons dressing its cast in watches that shouldn't quite be there yet, right up until the one Netflix and Casio put on shelves on purpose.
Calculator Watch
Eleven wears a generic, unbranded calculator watch in Season 1, and it isn't even hers: it's Mike Wheeler's, borrowed when the party dresses her up to move through Hawkins unnoticed. No logo, no model number, nothing to trace, mass-produced without a name attached in the early 1980s. For a character with no name anyone gave her with care and no possessions of her own, wearing someone else's untraceable watch is the right detail twice over.
Casio B-612
Jim Hopper is a former NYC detective running a small-town police department he's never fully made peace with. His watch, a plain early-80s Casio B-612, is the kind bought because it tells the time and that's the end of the conversation. Other outlets have guessed at a B640WD-1AV, a modern retro reissue rather than the real thing. Watch forums doing their own frame-by-frame work eventually landed on the same B-612 this site did, right down to the aftermarket bracelet somebody clipped onto it. Nobody discusses Hopper's watch. Hopper isn't the kind of person who discusses his watch. It just happens to be correct.

Timex Weekender
Jonathan Byers is the quietest presence in Hawkins: artistic, anxious, largely invisible to everyone but Will. His Timex Weekender, canvas strap, clean numerals, doesn't announce itself any more than he does. Some characters get watches that say something complicated about who they are. Jonathan gets a Timex Weekender. That might be the most accurate casting decision in the whole show.

Nelsonic Q*bert Game Watch
Will Byers wears the Nelsonic Qbert Game Watch across Seasons 1 through 3. He's wearing it when he disappears into the Upside Down. He's wearing it when he comes back. He's still wearing it in Season 3, when his friends have started dating and lost interest in Dungeons and Dragons and begun growing up in ways Will isn't ready for. Seasons 1 through 3 run 1983 to 1985; the Nelsonic Qbert was in production from 1983 onward. Unlike Dustin's F-91W or Mike's CA-53W, it requires no anachronism disclaimer. The watch is the one constant across everything that happens to him.

Casio F-91W
Dustin's Season 2 watch is a Casio F-91W. Season 2 is set in October 1984. The F-91W launched in 1989. It's the first of what becomes a pattern: three years later, the props department makes the identical mistake putting Mike Wheeler in a CA-53W too early. By Season 3, Dustin switches to something period-correct. The F-91W stays behind, five years ahead of its time on a kid who never noticed.

Casio CA-53W
Mike Wheeler wears a Casio CA-53W in Season 3, set in the summer of 1985. Casio released the CA-53W in 1988. The gap went almost entirely unnoticed for years in a show otherwise known for period precision. A calculator watch fits Mike exactly regardless: he runs the D&D campaign, takes his equipment seriously, methodical to a fault. He was just wearing next-generation equipment three years before Casio built it.

Armitron FM Radio Watch
Dustin's Season 3 watch actually gets the year right: the Armitron 40/6351 launched in 1981, well before the show catches up to it. Built-in FM tuner, physical dial on the case, an LED readout showing the frequency, headphones required. For a kid who built his own ham radio setup and stays in contact with people continents away, a watch that plays the radio from your wrist is close to the minimum spec.

Swatch Yellow Racer GJ400
Max Mayfield wears a Swatch Yellow Racer GJ400 across Seasons 2 and 3. The GJ400 came out in Swatch's 1984 Spring/Summer collection. Right watch, right character, right year, which after two consecutive Casio anachronisms is worth noting on its own. Yellow case, checkered dial, disposable enough at $30 to buy in multiples and wear like an accessory instead of an heirloom.

Caravelle Vintage
Caravelle launched as a Bulova sub-brand in 1962, built to compete with Timex without touching the Bulova name, and became the best-selling jeweled watch in America by 1968. Steve Harrington wears a vintage gold-tone example, likely a decade old by the time the show catches up to it in 1983. Other outlets have guessed at a vintage Hamilton; the lug shape doesn't match. Steve comes from money in Hawkins. A tasteful, secondhand Bulova offshoot is exactly the kind of watch someone with money and no reason to show it off would inherit.

Casio W-700
Eddie Munson wears a Casio W-700 in Season 4, not the Casio F-91W often assumed. Both are small, dark, rectangular Casio digitals at a glance, which is where the confusion starts and ends. The W-700 is essentially a DW-5600 without the G-Shock's protective outer casing, same basic module, no bumpers. Season 4 is set in 1986. The W-700 existed then. Unlike Mike Wheeler's CA-53W or Dustin's F-91W, Eddie is actually wearing something that could have been on his wrist in 1986.

Casio Vintage AQ-800E-1AEF
Steve's final-season watch, the AQ-800E, isn't actually a period piece either, though it's designed to look like one. Casio's AQ-800E is a modern watch from the brand's own "Vintage Collection," an explicit reissue of the real 1980s AQ-450. The costume department almost certainly reached for what Casio had readily available rather than sourcing an actual 40-year-old original, which means Steve's watch is technically brand new dressed as old, the same trick the whole final season pulls with its own Casio partnership. The Caravelle he wore earlier in the show was real vintage. This one only looks like it.

Lucas Sinclair - Casio AQ-230
Lucas wears an AQ-230 in the final season, and this one's wrong for the era too: Casio released the AQ-230 in 1995, eight years after Season 5 is set. It descends from the 1982 Janus AQ-200, the first Casio to combine analog hands with an LCD, but the AQ-230 itself is a later, slimmer follow-up. Analog hands over a small digital window, stainless steel, nothing added that doesn't need to be there. Correct-looking, wrong decade, same as most of Hawkins by this point.
G-Shock DW-5600E
Lucas's other Season 5 watch is the G-Shock DW-5600E, descended directly from the original 1983 G-Shock brief: survive a 10-metre drop. The DW-5600 line launched in the late 1980s, making it the rare Hawkins watch that's actually close to period-correct, after Mike and Dustin both got their timelines wrong earlier in the show.

Casio Casiotron 52QGS
Dustin's other final-season watch is the Casiotron 52QGS, the gold-tone version of Casio's very first watch, released in 1974. Season 5 is set in 1987, which makes this one genuinely vintage rather than accidentally futuristic. Dustin finally gets one right.

G-Shock DW-5750E-1
And then, in the same season, on the same wrist rotation, he wears a G-Shock DW-5750E-1: a rectangular 50mm G-Shock that postdates 1987. Dustin Henderson has now worn more anachronistic Casios than anyone else in Hawkins, and he manages one more in the very season the show finally gets a watch right elsewhere on his own arm. The habit never fully breaks. It just gets quieter.

Casio B-210
Will's Season 5 watch is a Casio B-210, an early-80s LCD digital on a leather strap. Jim Hopper wears the Casio B-612 across the show: same brand, same era, near-identical design language. Whether the props team placed the two watches deliberately isn't confirmed. Will Byers and Jim Hopper have shared dinners, arguments, silences, and something that became family before either of them decided to call it that. By Season 5, they appear to share a watch as well.
Advance Quartz Digital
Nancy Wheeler's Season 5 watch sent watch forums looking for months: red resin, digital display, unbranded-looking enough that nobody placed it fast. It's an Advance Quartz Digital, a budget brand sold at Walmart and K-Mart for $10 to $30 in the late 1980s, no boutique, no heritage story, designed to tell the time and take knocks. Nancy spent the whole series trying to be taken seriously by people who saw her as something else first. Her watch cost less than dinner and did exactly what it needed to.

Casio LA670WGA-9EF
Erica's watch belongs to the same category as Steve's: a current-production piece from Casio's Vintage Collection, styled after an 80s original rather than being one. It looks more expensive than its $25 price tag either way. Her brother Lucas wears an AQ-230 from 1995 and a G-Shock from the late 80s in the same season. Between the two Sinclair siblings, Season 5 manages an actual period-correct G-Shock, a reissue dressed as vintage, and a watch that's outright from the wrong decade. That's the final season's whole approach to Hawkins' watch drawer in miniature.

Casio Made It Official
Season 5's anachronisms didn't go unnoticed, and Casio eventually leaned into the joke instead of ignoring it. For the show's final season, Casio and G-Shock released an official Stranger Things collaboration built on the DW-5600 and AQ-800, the same two base models Steve and Lucas actually wear on screen. The G-Shock DW-5600STT-1 carries vine motifs referencing Vecna across the dial, a deliberately reversed "A" in the LED Backlight label as a nod to the Upside Down, "011" stamped into the band keeper for Eleven, and packaging featuring the Demogorgon. It retails for around $140.
Every Watch Worn in Stranger Things - Closing
Nineteen watches, five seasons, and by the end, two different kinds of anachronism running at once: some watches are simply from the wrong year, and some are the right design wearing the wrong decade's manufacturing date, Casio's own Vintage Collection standing in for things that no longer exist to borrow. Eddie Munson, of all people, ends up with one of the only watches in the whole show that's actually correct. One mystery got solved along the way: Nancy's red Casio turned out to be a ten-dollar Advance from Walmart. Another hasn't. Whatever Dr. Brenner wears in Season 4 has stumped watch forums for years, confirmed only as "not digital." Hawkins keeps something back until the very end. Apparently so does this site.
