Hamilton x Christopher Nolan: The Odyssey Watch, Explained - The Odyssey

Every watch Christopher Nolan has put in front of a camera has had a job to do. The Hamilton Murph in Interstellar carried a message across a wormhole and decades of a daughter's life. The Odyssey breaks that pattern entirely. Hamilton's newest collaboration with Nolan will never appear in a single frame of the film it was built for. The story it belongs to predates the wristwatch by roughly three thousand years.

Hamilton has worked with Nolan on three previous films, Interstellar, Tenet, and Oppenheimer. In each case the brand supplied or built a watch that lived inside the story, worn by a character, filmed in close-up. The Khaki Field Auto The Odyssey Limited Edition, reference H70675530, is something else. Nolan's adaptation of Homer's epic is set during the Bronze Age, centuries before mechanical timekeeping existed, so a prop watch was never on the table. Hamilton and Nolan built a watch that represents the story instead of appearing in it: the brand's first attempt at that particular problem, and the reason this Hamilton Odyssey watch stands apart from the rest of their filmography together.

The 42mm case is bronze, chosen for its connection to the era's armor and weapons and for the patina it develops individually with wear. The black, vertically brushed dial carries no hour markers. In their place, a swirling bronze pattern runs around the perimeter, lifted from the texture of Odysseus's helmet. The hands are shaped like his sword, the seconds hand like a spear, and the index at 12 o'clock is modeled on a rivet from the sword's scabbard. Flip the watch over and the titanium caseback repeats the helmet pattern, engraved alongside Christopher Nolan's own signature.

Every unit ships with a replica of Athena's pin, the talisman Penelope gives Odysseus before he leaves for Troy, made to be worn as a brooch. Production is capped at 2,112 pieces, a number pulled from the poem itself: 12,000 lines, 12 ships sent to Troy, an arrow fired through 12 axe heads to prove Odysseus's identity when he finally comes home.

Movement, price and availability

Inside is Hamilton's H-10 automatic movement, built on the ETA C07.611 base with a Nivachron balance spring for resistance to magnetic fields and temperature swings. It runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour with an 80-hour power reserve, and water resistance is rated to 100 metres. The watch ships on a brown grained leather strap with a titanium pin buckle. Pricing is set at $1,495 in the US and CHF 1,195 in Switzerland. It becomes available July 17, 2026, the same day The Odyssey opens in theatres.

Interstellar's Hamilton measured a father's absence in years his daughter counted alone. The Odyssey measures something older: a homecoming that took ten years and became the template for every story about coming home ever since. Hamilton didn't put a watch in that story. It built one for the myth instead.
